I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND

On October 17th, 1963, the Beatles recorded their song I Want to Hold Your Hand for the first time using four-track technology.

This chart-topping British hit of 1964 inspired the writing of a contemporary stage play in 2021, a production that marked the beginning of a new artistic era for one of Athens' most historic theatres.

The weariness that can settle into a marriage, the crises couples face after many years of living together, infidelity, and a short-stay hotel, becomes the backdrop for two "illicit" lovers.

They are both parents. They both have their reasons. They have both made mistakes.

World drama has often explored the complexities of human relationships, the needs of men and women, their desires and obligations, perhaps because audiences can so easily identify with them and become emotionally engaged. The two protagonists invite us to move between laughter and tears and, through their encounters, to realise that what we are all searching for at the end of the day is genuine companionship.
