Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre-KASSIANI/The Byzantine Hymnographer of the 8th Century
Spread the word
On the occasion of the spirit of these days, you are invited on Holy Monday to a special and contemplative screening at Doc Cafe.
We will watch the dramatised documentary “KASSIANI – The Byzantine Hymnographer of the 8th Century” by Kleoni Flessa. The film traces the footsteps of the legendary hymnographer who lived in Constantinople, amid intense religious conflict and the end of Iconoclasm.
It offers an insightful look at a woman who, through her work, praised God and friendship, criticised corrupt and unfaithful men, embraced the fallen, and cared for the suffering. A woman whose presence, the scent of violet, is said to still linger in the women’s gallery of Hagia Sophia.
