ANTIGONE

Sophocles' acclaimed Antigone, directed by Themis Moumoulidis, returns in the summer of 2026 for a limited number of performances at iconic archaeological sites and selected theatres throughout Greece, as well as at international festivals.

The production will be presented with English surtitles at selected venues, allowing English-speaking audiences to experience and enjoy Sophocles' timeless masterpiece.

Following its highly successful 2025 tour, which featured more than 25 sold-out performances and attracted over 50,000 spectators, Antigone returns renewed and more relevant than ever. The production, which moved and captivated both audiences and critics, continues its journey by once again illuminating the timeless questions of freedom, justice, and individual responsibility in the face of authority.

Themis Moumoulidis and an outstanding ensemble of artists and actors, led by Lena Papaligoura as Antigone, Meletis Ilias as Creon, and Michalis Oikonomou as the Guard, revisit and further develop their interpretation of Antigone. Their renewed approach deepens the exploration of Sophocles' greatest tragedy and one of the most compelling heroines in the history of world drama.

Antigone also inaugurates a special programme of events marking the 20th anniversary of 5th Epoch Art, celebrating two decades of dynamic contribution to contemporary culture and the performing arts.
