On Friday, June 27th, the Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata, in collaboration with the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival, invites you to Doc Cafe for a special screening: A selection of the award-winning films of Balkans Beyond Borders 2024, which highlight the relationship between man and the environment: how does man interact with the environment, what consequences arise from his actions, how does the environment affect his life?
The event will be attended by the director of the BBB Festival, Vasiliki Maltasoglou.

We will watch a selection of Balkans Beyond Borders 2024's award-winning films, which bring contemporary filmmaking from the Balkans and beyond to the heart of Kalamata!
On our screen, we will watch:
«Rooted in Code» | Nejc Trampuž (Slovenia, 13') - The Best Film: A journey to 2057, where a permaculture garden in a skyscraper and the human-robot relationship make us think about the future.
«Tradition» | Ali Rıza Bayazıt (Turkey, 15') - Audience Award: A moving story of search and resistance for memory and human connection.
«WATER OF LIFE» | Sündüs Gören (Turkey, 15') - First Participation Award: A powerful testimony of displacement and survival.
«Tiny Fountain» | Stratis Albanos (Greece, 9') - Special Mention: A poetic exploration of memory and language in Western Macedonia.
«Hayati» | Ozan Boz (Turkey, 12') - Special Mention: A farmer's struggle to preserve his land and heritage.

«Silo Machine» | Irini Tampasouli, Stratos Serafimidis (Greece) - A local story from Kalamata, which brings to life the strike of the Silo workers in 1934.
