Winter, Poland, border with Belarus. The landscape is frozen, the area is militarised, and the dilemma is hot. Maczek and his family live in the shadow of the border guard who are hunting down "illegals". When his mother opens the door to an exhausted Syrian refugee, the house becomes a refuge of humanity amid barbarity—a punch-in-the-stomach film about the limits of hospitality and moral responsibility towards one's fellow man.
