Kalo Nero Beach
Kalo Nero beach is located in front of the homonymous settlement, which is 6 kilometres from Kyparissia. It is a long, organised beach with sand and clear blue waters. Visitors can find canteens, beach bars, taverns, hotels and rooms for rent, while it is also a favourite destination for surfing enthusiasts. The beach was recognised as a swimming beach in 1990 and is awarded the Blue Flag yearly.
Kalo Nero beach (like the entire Kyparissia gulf) is the second most important nesting area of the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle in the Mediterranean, after Zakynthos. An information centre for Caretta-Caretta operates on the beach, where, among other things, educational programmes for children are organised.
