Kalo Nero
The coastal village of Kalo Nero (often referred to as Kalonero) is built at an altitude of 11 metres and has approximately 500 permanent residents. It is 6 kilometres from Kyparissia and 13 kilometres from Sidirokastro. At a higher level is the settlement of Ano Kalo Nero with 70 permanent residents.
The long beach of Kalo Nero is particularly popular for its crystal-clear sea with fine sand and is awarded the Blue Flag every year. Caretta-Caretta sea turtles incubate their eggs on the beach, so you should be extra careful.
In the village, visitors can see the church of St. Constantine and Helen and the church of the Transfiguration of the Savior. Also, at Kalo Nero, you can find some of the best fish restaurants in the area.
