The Oral History Group of Trifylia (OPITRI) is organising and inviting the public to a screening of the multi-award-winning documentary The Unclaimed by director Marianna Oikonomou, on May 17th, 2026, at 19:30, at the Museum of Greek Education.
The documentary sheds light on one of the darkest and least known aspects of modern Greek history, following the story surrounding the “unclaimed dead” of the historic sanatorium through a deeply moving personal and social investigation. The film seeks to highlight issues of memory, loss, and human dignity, provoking intense reflection and emotional impact.
At the same time, through testimonies and historical evidence, the work emphasises the importance of collective memory and the recording of human stories that often remain on the margins of official history.
The documentary has received six international awards, confirming its significant artistic and social value, while Marianna Oikonomou’s direction has already been recognised for its sensitivity and deeply human-centred approach.
The event is being held with the support of the Municipality of Trifylia and is expected to become an important cultural evening for the region, giving the public the opportunity to watch a work that combines historical research with social reflection.
