The Castle of Fairytales
The main attraction of the settlement is the “Castle of Fairytales”, a piece of work and donation of the local doctor and sculptor Harry Fournier, whose real name was Charalambos Fournarakis.
It was built during the 1960’s and unfortunately today is just a forgotten ornament left to the deterioration of time. The exterior of the castle is decorated by scenes and statues from the Greek mythology, such as the huge figures of Poseidon and Athena, but, also, by heroes of the Greek Revolution of 1821 along with knights.
Next to the castle there is a large building in the shape of a horse, like the Trojan Horse, which used to be a library. The castle was built, as the sign says:“to remind us all, with just one look, of the sweet fairytales our grandmothers used to tell us”.
