The village of Valta is built at an altitude of 260 meters and is located between Filiatra and Gargaliani. It has about 270 permanent residents. Initially, the village was built east of its current location at a location that was abandoned for security reasons. The village is mentioned in various censuses of the Venetian Providers of the Republic of Venice when the Venetians occupied the Peloponnese (1683 / 84-1715).
Near the square of Valta, the visitor can find the ruined, old olive mill. Its machinery and tools are kept, even today, in good condition. It is one of the two olive mills that operated in the village in the last century.
On a hill, West of the village is the church of Agios Georgios, from where the view is breathtaking. There, the visitor can see an impressive stone bridge, which although it has been declared a monument of Greek cultural heritage, is in very poor condition.
Near Valta is the waterfall of the gorge "Kokkina Patera", as well as the Forest of Evangelistra that took its name from the homonymous Monastery. The gorge, which is not visitable, starts from the village. It has taken its name from the red rocks that characterize it. Finally, there is a Frankish fountain in the forest, which dates back to the early 13th century.
