Cultural Summer 2023: Environmental Walk

On Wednesday, August 13^th (18:00-20:00), as part of the Cultural Summer of the Municipality of Kalamata, an educational activity (for children aged 7-15) will take place in Artemisia. A trip in nature will be the occasion for children to learn about ecology, natural resources and energy and to think about the ecological crisis and climate change, development and consumerism. The seminar's purpose is for the children to reflect on the two-way and binding relationship between the natural environment and humans at a time when the consequences of the ecological crisis are now visible.

Later, at 21:00, the award-winning documentary “The Greengrocer” will be screened by the Hellenic Solar Mobile Cinema of the “Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre”.

Nikos Anastasiou, an itinerant greengrocer, and his wife, Sophia, have been making the same route every week, year-round, since the 80s. Starting from Trikala, they visit the abandoned villages of southern Pindos, covering 75 kilometres. Their two children, Kostas and Thymios, have been helping them in recent years. The documentary follows their journey as the four seasons of the year pass by.
