Kalamata Public Library-Mapping the Sacred
Spread the word

The Contemporary Greek Art Gallery of the Kalamata Public Library presents the exhibition "Mapping the Sacred" – a unique tour of the spiritual and artistic world of religious tradition.
Through precious selections of rare manuscripts and Gospels from the 17th century, as well as works that capture the emotion and perspective of great artists such as Nikolaos Gyzis, Fotis Kontoglou, Loudovikos Thirsios, Daphne Kostopoulou, Spyros Vasiliou, Nikitas Gryspos and others, the visitor is invited to experience a profoundly personal and spiritual experience.
The temporary exhibition will be held in the hexagonal "Aggeliki Koutsomitopoulou" room of the Art Gallery and open on Holy Monday at 5:00 PM.
The exhibition "Mapping the Holy" runs until 29/05, the day of Christ's ascension.
The visiting hours remain the same: Wednesday and Thursday, mornings 11:00-1:00 PM, and afternoons 6:00-8:00 PM.
Especially for Holy Week, our hours are as follows:
a) Kalamata Public Library:
Monday – Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM and Thursday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
*The library will remain closed in the afternoons.
b) Gallery of Contemporary Greek Art: Monday – Thursday: 11:00-13:00 & 17:00-19:00
We invite you to discover the wealth of the Kalamata Public Library and the Contemporary Greek Art Gallery, through the encounter of spirituality and the Divine Word, where art converses with religion and devotion and becomes a guide in the search for faith.
