An ode to the palate with Messenian watermelon and tsipouro!
Here in the south summer lasts much longer, and September is perhaps the year's sweetest month. It can also become the most... "drunk", as the Gastronomy Festival, which the Region of Peloponnese is co-organising with the Municipality of Trifylia and the Chamber of Messenia next Saturday, September 2nd in the "magical" Upper Town of Kyparissia, will be an ode to the palate based on Messenian watermelon and tsipouro!
Also, favourite raw materials with a taste from the past have already entered the "microscope" of the chefs. They will be reborn most originally and creatively, conveying an authentic culinary experience through the local culinary culture aromas.
Producers of local products from all over Messenia will participate in the event, and visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in taste tests. There will also be traditional treats from women - members of the cultural clubs of the area, while the "Wine and Olive Oil tasting" will offer a unique tour of the local varieties grown in the Messenian land and prepared with passion and love by its producers. However, not only adults will have their due, as the menu includes culinary activities for the little ones.
All this will go on under the sounds of live music from the South Vibes band, who intend to turn the celebration into a feast of songs and dances.
The evening will also have a Table Olive Competition by experienced Kalamata Olive and Olive Oil School tasters, who will award the most delicious traditional olive recipes prepared by women from all areas of Messenia.
