Tribute to Maria Kallas from the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory

On Friday, December 2nd, 1923, Maria Anna Keikilia Sofia Kalogeropoulos, the daughter of immigrants, was born in New York. Her father came from Meligalas, and her mother was from Stylida. The girl who, with hard work and dedication, was destined to shine on the most important stages of the world as Maria Kallas, the ultimate diva in lyrical theatre.
Exactly 100 years after her birth, on Saturday, December 2nd 2023, at 20:00, on the Main Stage of the Kalamata Dance Megaron, the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata will perform a tribute to this important priestess of Lyrical song.
At the same time, the work and personality of Christina Giannakopoulos, lyrical singer and teacher, will be honoured for her essential artistic and educational work, as she has honoured the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata for 20 years with her presence.
Also, the audience will have the pleasure of enjoying 14 young lyrical singers who have been studying alongside Christina Giannakopoulos at the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata and also at the Athenaeum Conservatory in well-known arias from Operas by W. A. MOZART, G. PUCCINI, V. BELLINI, A. DVORAK, C. GOUNOD, P.I. TCHAIKOVSKY, G. DONIZETTI etc.

Giannis Aeriniotis will accompany them on the piano.
