Its award-winning music, magnificent costumes, and extraordinary sets will make young and old audiences ecstatic and give them the pleasure of classical ballet for an hour or so. It will be an unforgettable experience!
It is a universal work that has been translated into dozens of languages. Andersen's "The Lead Soldier" is an excellent play that teaches children about diversity, acceptance and the power of true love. On their birthday, twins Sally and John receive gifts from their parents, including a soldier with only one leg... When the children are away, all the toys come alive! At that time, the soldier of our story will meet and fall in love with a beautiful ballerina doll.
However, a cunning and vicious harlequin will be jealous of their love and aims to separate the couple in love forever. At the time of the game, he pushes the lead soldier out of the open window and from then on... his tracks are lost, and the great adventure begins... the ending becomes utterly subversive in relation to Andersen's classic story that will not leave anyone disappointed...
It is a performance full of enchanting improvisations, music, dancing and songs that bring to life an atmosphere of romance, balancing between the comic and the poignant. The charming and spectacular scenography and costumes by Shiv Shena transport the viewer to the atmosphere of London in 1880. The theatrical adaptation was made by Ilias Papakonstantinou in a slick and modern language, preserving the poetic dimensions of the fairy tale. The music and songs are written by Apostolos Mosios specifically for the performance, maintaining the collaboration with the NCPA. At the same time, there is also a potpourri of classical musicians from works by Tchaikovsky, Brahms, etc.
Production, text, direction: Ilias Papakonstantinou.
