Spread the word

The Municipality of Kalamata, the Public Benefit Enterprise "FARIS" and the Messenian Philologists Association announce a poetry award for a debuting poet, "M. Polydouris," in memory of the poet. The cash prize is €3,000.00 (three thousand euros).
The award is given annually, nationwide, to "Polydouria." This year, it will be presented during the IE Polydouria festival.
The application for the award must be accompanied by the poetry collection, which has been published in the previous year of the prize (for this year's edition until 31-12-2024) and submitted to the Secretariat of the "FARIS" Cultural Centre in person, or by post, at the address: 99 Athinon Street, 2nd Building of the New City Hall, (tel. 27213 60619-611) by 08/08/2025, before the expiration of this deadline, in five (5) copies, with the indication "For the M. Polydouris Poetry Award".
The Committee, which will judge these poetry collections and those that, in its judgment, have not been submitted (if those submitted do not satisfy the members of the Committee), is a five-member committee and was formed based on the Regulation for Establishing the "M. Polydouris" Poetry Award, as follows:
- The Mayor of Kalamata or his designated representative, as Chairman of the Committee
- A Professor of the University of the Peloponnese, preferably a professor of Modern Greek Literature
- A representative as a regular member with an alternate member from the K.E. FARIS, appointed by decision of the Board
- Two representatives, from the Association of Philologists of Messenia, the respective President and one member from the Board of Directors of the Association of Philologists of Messenia.
- If the Committee deems that the submitted collections for the year 2024 do not meet the required criteria, it reserves the right not to award the prize accordingly.
