Messina enters carnival mode for its 165th Carnival.

The carnival events begin on Tsiknopempti (Fat Thursday), February 20th.
On Friday, February 21st, the official opening will take place in the city's central square.
On Sunday, February 23rd, the children's carnival will take place.
On Sunday, March 2nd, the bonfires custom in the neighbourhoods and the Tyris-Taramas custom will be revived.
On Ash Monday, March 3rd, the trial and hanging of Gria-Sykou, Vamaina with her bundle, the great carnival parade, and the important speech of the Carnival King will be re-enacted.
This year's carnival events will conclude with a concert by pop singer Lila.
