The A49 Art Space invites you to artistic photographer ION's first solo painting exhibition in Kalamata, where he grew up, lives and works. The opening of "HUMAN CONDITIONS" will take place on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 8 p.m., and the exhibition will last until January 11th, 2025.
Through this particular series of works, the artist attempts a visual mapping of hidden human thoughts. A study of soul hacks, rivalry, existential isolation and paradox. The whisper of the Ego, the dialogue of the conscious with the unconscious, the struggle for a moment of harmony. Their sound? Deaf, almost silent. With "Human Conditions", ION explores the secret, the occult, and loneliness. His images borrow a bit from the space and time of the subjects to present the viewer with a digital painting with photographic interpolations and collage elements in an unusual hybrid association. Time is not hinted at but intervenes in the space as a part of the composition itself. ION's mood, sometimes worshipful and sometimes fetishistic, never loses its investigative mood and is characterised by honesty and something unusual. The exhibition consists of 80 images and deals with the subject through two different styles, which conflict and complement each other. This is a selection of 160 works created by the artist during the coronavirus pandemic and first presented to the public on 1/20/2024 at the METS Arts Centre, Athens.
At the Kalamata exhibition, ION will premiere two of his new works, "The Portrait of Him and Me" and "The Mistress of the French Lieutenant," as well as two oil paintings influenced by Picasso.
Some works will be rotated during the exhibition so that something new is waiting for you to see every time you visit the space.
"HUMAN CONDITIONS" is the third solo exhibition of ION for 2024.
