Metamorphosis Fest: A Festival for Climate Education and Sustainable Kalamata

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Municipality of Kalamata will organise, on Friday, June 6th, 2025, the Metamorphosis Fest, a festival open to citizens of all ages, dedicated to climate education, the circular economy, and the sustainable relationship between citizens and public space.
The festival takes place within the framework of actions for implementing the Kalamata Climate Convention. The program includes participatory workshops, screenings, and a spare parts bazaar, aiming to raise awareness, educate and activate citizens.
The detailed programme of the day:
Morning | 24th Primary School of Kalamata
10:00 – Workshop on the Circular Economy by Nasos Makios and Presentation of the book “The Circle of Joy” by Leda Varvarousi (activity exclusively for the students of the 24th Primary School of Kalamata).
Afternoon | OSE Park, next to the skating area at the picnic tables
18:00 – 20:00 Workshop “Plants in Our Life” by the Kalamata Environmental Education Centre for young and old.
18:30 – 20:00 Short film screenings “Interactions: When Cinema Looks to Nature” (Interactions: When Cinema Looks to Nature). In collaboration with the New Kalamata Film Club, the Children and Youth Film Festival and the Federation of Film Clubs of Greece.
19:00 – 21:00 Swap Bazaar: Bring One, Take One*
Swap Bazaar of clothes, toys and books – for a waste-free economy
20:00 - 21:00 Participatory Mapping “My Sustainable Circular Park”

* Basic Rules for Participation in the Swap Bazaar:
1. Condition of Items: All items you bring (clothes, toys, books, gadgets) must be clean, in good condition and fully functional.
1.1 Item Limit: Each participant brings up to three items.
2. 1:1 Exchange: For each item you bring, you can get a matching one. No buying or selling takes place.
3. Acceptance by the group: The organising group reserves the right to reject items that do not meet the criteria of cleanliness, safety, or functionality.
4. We do not accept: underwear, worn clothes or shoes, violent or sexist toys, or damaged books.
5. Arrival time: You can bring and exchange items throughout the event from 18:00 to 21:00.
6. Anything left over: Unexchanged items will be donated to social structures or solidarity collectives.
The event is a partner event of the EU Green Week, which takes place from June 1st to 30th, 2025, and this year focuses on the three Cs – Clean, Competitive, and Circular – and how they can be at the heart of the green transition.
