A screening that transcends gender boundaries in sports
The Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata invites you to the documentary screening by Yula Furman, "Life is not a competition, but I am winning".
In a world where sports are traditionally governed by strict gender divisions, the documentary "Life is not a competition, but I am winning" offers a fresh and dynamic queer-feminist look at Olympic track and field. Yula Furman, with a bold mix of fiction, documentary and archival material, creates a dreamlike cinematic utopia, where stereotypical gender categories are demolished.
The film touches on a key issue of our time, gender identity and inclusion in sports, originally and artistically. It offers an alternative and empowering narrative and gives voice to stories that are rarely heard. The director uses a unique cinematic language, combining different genres to create a visually impressive and emotionally charged work.
The film is not afraid to provoke and open a dialogue about the future of sports and society.
The film comes from the 10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival programme.
It will be screened at Doc Cafe on Monday, May 12th, at 9 pm.
Arrival time: 20:30
