40 years Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata
"Shadows in the Light",
a special chamber music concert with
Quintets by R.Schumann & D.Shostakovich

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 8:00 PM, a special musical event will take place on the stage of the Studio at the Kalamata Dance Megaron.

"Schumann & Shostakovich" - Two iconic piano quintets in a special concert!

Loukas Georgias on the piano, Varvara Tsotra on the cello, Sofia-Karolina Anagnostou on the viola, and Katalin Kertesz and Antonis Maziotis on the violins collaborate to present two landmark works: Schumann's Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Opus 44, and Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor, Opus 57.

These works, representative of music for piano with string quartet, are characterised by intense lyricism, dynamic contrasts, deep interiority and distinct irony. At the same time, the concert is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the death of the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich.

This concert marks the opening of a series of events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata.
