10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival: 2 Seminars for film lovers
The 10th anniversary of the Peloponnese International Documentary Festival is coming in November. Among its many educational activities, it is organising two unique seminars: one for creating documentaries and one for making short films utilising the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence.
Don't miss the deadlines. Applications until October 25th, 2024
The 10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival will take place from November 22nd to December 1st, 2024, while on December 2nd and 3rd, the Festival will continue with the screening of short documentaries as part of the Kalamata short docs festival. Focusing on Kalamata, part of the Festival will also take place in 13 other cities of the Peloponnese Region, such as Patras, Tripoli, Sparta, Gythio, Nafplio, Amaliada, Monemvasia, Leonidio, Xylokastro, Akrata, Dimitsana, Stymfalia and Filiatra, with a rich programme that will be announced soon.
The Festival once again embraces the modern manifestations of the Art of Cinema by inviting students, filmmakers and amateur cinephiles to participate in the Educational Programme "Creation of Short Films Using Artificial Intelligence" (24-27/11). Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving daily into a significant field of endeavour, thus significantly impacting various professional fields, including various art forms and their teaching in formal and informal education. Therefore, the correct use of IT, as it emerges from the relevant European framework under continuous renewal, is reduced to an essential tool for creating and discovering personal skills, of course, and claiming jobs with remarkable prospects within and outside domestic artistic production.
Professor Ioannis Deligiannis (Analog and Digital Technologies of Interactive Multimedia, Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Ionian University) edited the four-day educational programme.
At the same time, the Festival is organising the specialised seminar "Crafting True Narratives: Mastering the Documentary," a multidimensional and intensive six-day workshop that aims to guide participants through the process of creating a documentary. The seminar will be held from November 23rd to 28th in Kalamata and is aimed at people who wish to develop their skills in directing, writing, filming, recording and editing a documentary.
During the seminar, participants will learn to tell reality-based stories, delve deeper into topics of interest, and develop a creative approach to the composition and presentation of their documentaries. The programme includes practical workshops, theoretical classes, group activities, and the production of short documentary films, which the participants will present at the end of the seminar.
Iakovos Panagopoulos (Assistant Professor at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University), Mark Bond (Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University, United Kingdom, Rebecca Bond (director and producer of documentaries and current affairs programmes for channels such as the BBC, the Channel 4, and CNN) and Apostolos Loufopoulos (Associate Professor at the Ionian University, specialising in sound composition) will be head of the seminars.
