MOLOTOV VODKA
Spread the word
Eleni Radou's explosive comedy based on Neil Simon's adaptation of Chekhov's short stories, after the enormous success of the summer and the continuous sold-outs in Athens and Thessaloniki, continues and comes to Kalamata on May 20th for two performances (18:15 and 21:15). This is another impressive production from the "Methexis" company of Christos Tripodis.
A few words about the project:
Anton Chekhov sketches characters from both the urban centres and the countryside of pre-revolutionary Russia, magnifying in a slick but always sympathetic way their habits, obsessions, fears, attachment to their petty interests, naivety, and cunning. One can watch typical types of his time and society parade on stage, from teachers and nannies to priests and dentists. All universal and eternal heroes surrender to our judgment for yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Eleni Radou titled her "Molotov Vodka" adaptation, winking at the audience for the theatrical "explosion" of laughter and emotion they are about to experience. Her text has linguistic immediacy and humorous wit. With all their quirks, mistakes, woes and desires, the Chekhovian heroes will share their tears, melancholy smiles and redemptive laughter with us. At a time when the different characters, the different points of view from ideological and national stereotypes, even the opposite leaf or the different race, as well as the various political affiliations, are treated with an almost cannibalistic attitude, with sermons of hatred and depreciation, the love of Chekhov about man, as well as his humour, can prove to be a catalyst.
Nikorestis Chaniotakis sets up a contemporary performance of fast rhythms, with nerve, ingenuity and theatrical euphoria, with eight excellent actors. On stage, we will also see Anton Chekhov himself through the interpretation of Tasos Chalkias.
