The place where Zeus were raised
After the birth of the god of gods, the nymphs (fairies of the rivers) and while making the “purification” to Rhea, they threw the sewage into a tributary/side stream of the Neda, which for this reason, until today, is called Lykaios (Lycaeus),
Since Zeus was in danger from the peculiar "appetites" of his father Cronus/ Kronos ,who famously ate his children, Rhea entrusted the upbringing of Zeus to Neda and two other nymphs, Theisoa, and Hagno. The Nymphs kept and raised the Divine Infant to grow and become the God of the gods.
In a Messenian tradition the Nymph Neda -one of the nurses of Zeus-gave the river Neda her name(the only one in Greece with a female name) as later the warrior and a mother, full of power, mystery and love, nourished the legends and the traditions in the surrounding areas.
