Be a child's hero

On the occasion of World Childhood Cancer Day, which was established for February 15th, the Municipality of Kalamata, in collaboration with the "Every Book is a Journey - We Travel by Book" A.M.K.E., "Phaos" Co-operative Society, "Primal Blood Cell", the "Poseidon" Kalamata Nautical Club, "Give Life", the SAEK of Kalamata General Hospital and the Hellenic Sailing Federation, are organising for the third consecutive year the voluntary action "Become a Child's Hero", with the aim of raising awareness and supporting children suffering from neoplastic diseases, supporting the "Floga" Parents' Association.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, from 10:00 to 14:00, outside the Cultural Centre of Kalamata, a space that symbolises the spiritual and social meeting of citizens. This initiative aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer, support public health, strengthen social cohesion and promote the registration of new volunteer bone marrow donors.

We invite everyone aged 18-40 in good health to participate in this initiative and become the "Heroes of a Child" through a simple and painless process. Registration in the Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor Pool DOES NOT imply immediate donation of a transplant. Still, it offers the opportunity to change the life of a child who is fighting his own battle with blood cancer.

With your support, we can help the children of "Floga" and every child fighting cancer to find compatible donors and emerge victorious from this challenging ordeal.
