Screening of Arnaud Sauli's film Sheol at the regular Monday screenings from the 10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival programme at the Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre
The regular Monday screenings continue with selected films from the 10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival programme.
This Monday, we will get to know Arnaud Sauli's work, "Sheol".
In a forest in eastern Poland, an archaeologist digs to uncover traces of the Sobibur extermination camp. Thousands of objects that belonged to the victims emerge from the ground as fragile witnesses. This research must be completed as the construction of a new museum-monument begins. How can the Holocaust be commemorated in its own space, today and tomorrow, when an era without martyrs is emerging? How does the Holocaust continue to affect the history and memory of Poland and its citizens within Europe in a conflictual political context? The film examines these questions by showing and listening to the voices of archaeologists, historians, architects, journalists, curators and visitors connected to Sobibur.
