On World Teachers' Day, the Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre invites you to an evening of reflection and dialogue about the Greek educational system. The evening will include screening the documentary "Lessons—Sufferings: How Else Can I Learn?" and a discussion with accomplished educators.
UNESCO established World Teachers' Day in 1994 to remind us of the crucial role that teachers play in society.
On this occasion, the Creative Documentary Center is planning an event after the screening on Saturday, October 5, at 7 p.m.
LESSONS-SUFFERINGS
HOW ELSE CAN I LEARN?
This is a series of documentaries with issues and concerns concerning the school community and the Greek education system from the archive of ERT, from a series of documentaries with problems and concerns that concern the school community and the Greek education system.
In the specific episode that will be shown, cases are presented of the application of experiential learning programs that cultivate students' self-activity while simultaneously examining the new role of the teacher in the 2000s, when the innovative practice of the "flexible zone" flourished in the Greek school environment.
Two examples of primary and secondary education in which teaching is based on modern pedagogical methods are presented: the implementation of the Flexible Zone programme in the 99th primary school in the centre of Athens and the research programme "Leadership for learning," which concerns the self-evaluation of school units, at the 2nd Gymnasium of Petroupolis. Teachers, professors, students and parents describe their experiences. Interviews are interspersed with Professor of Educational Psychology Tzella Skouras and Education historian Alexis Dimaras.
Directed by: Marianna Economou
A discussion will follow with teachers Giorgos Dretas, Ioanna Ravanis and Thodoris Stavrianopoulos.
