EXPERIMENTAL STAGE OF KALAMATA-My speechless Milia
Spread the word
The Experimental Stage of Kalamata is organising an event on Friday, March 8th, at 8:30 p.m. in its Hall entitled:
"My Speechless Milia" is dedicated to the International Women's Day celebration.
It is a musical theatre lecture based on Pantelis Boukala's book "Milia my Amiliti (My speechless Milia)", A SPEECH IN SIX VOICES.
This event is dedicated to all women who became victims of psychological, verbal or physical violence: the women who bled, who were hurt, and the women who left unjustly.
The women who did not protest, who did not raise their voices, who did not speak.
The story is true. Mani 1840. Maybe Corfu 1890. Maybe Macedonia 1930. Maybe Corfu 2019, or maybe Rhodes.
It is the story of a bride called Milia, just like the fruit (apple) tree. She was buried alive by her father and brothers because the groom did not find her a virgin. Only her head remained intact for the rite of her shaming. Why did she dare to love a stranger and not the man she was forced to marry?
It is a shocking story told by six voices: the mother, the four sisters, Milia, the younger brother, Constantis, the father, and the foreign lover.
It is the story of every woman who must bow to the orders of her father, brother and husband. It is the story of a woman who does not have a voice, does not speak, and is silent...
Between the voices-monologues theatrical songs with lyrics dedicated to women will be heard.
PEleni Alevizou, Lila Gleggles, Fevronia Exakoustidou, Michalis Kraunakis, Ismini Konstantopoulou, Letta Petroulakis, Vassilis Stefanopoulos are participating.
The event is addressed to all friends who resist any form of violence.
