A tribute event to poet Nikos Gatsos

K.E. "FARIS" presents on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, at 20:00, at the Amphitheatre of the Municipal Philharmonic, a tribute event to Nikos Gatsos, the great poet of the generation of the '30s. Poet of a book, the legendary "Amorgos", published in the dark years of the German-Italian occupation, he marked a version of the poetic renewal brought by the generation of 1930, with elements deep in the Greek tradition. His poetic continuity culminated in his poetic art in lyrics, in which he brought together the poetic tradition and the new ways, creating an imposing and valuable work.
The following will speak about the poet's work and actions:
- Agathi Dimitroukas, poet, essayist, translator, heir and curator of Gatsos' work, on the topic: "The impact of Nikos Gatsos today".
- Elena Koutrianou, professor of modern Greek literature, theory of literature and comparative grammar, in the department of philology of the University of Peloponnese on the topic: "The correspondence of Nikos Gatsos with Manos Hatzidakis and Odysseus Elytis" and
- Dimitris Kosmopoulos, poet and essayist responsible for planning the artistic activities of Speech and Letters of K.E. FARIS, will read "On the sources of Greek modernism: The case of Nikos Gatsos."
A band with Maria Krasopoulou and Nikolas Paleologos will perform songs from Nikos Gatsos's poetry.
