"Apeirogono"
"Apeirogono" is a multi-award-winning novel that sensitively and realistically portrays the tragedy of the war in Gaza through the stories of the people who experience it. It is a book that speaks honestly about war, loss and hope.
Bassam Aramin is Palestinian. Rami Elhanan is Israeli. They inhabit a place of conflict that colours every aspect of their lives, from the roads they are allowed to drive to the physical and mental checkpoints they must pass daily. Two similar tragic incidents related to their daughters mark them forever. Rami and Bassam are raised to hate each other. However, the loss of their children is a shared experience that will unite them in a high cause. Together, they decide to use their heavy personal grief as a weapon for peace, telling their stories repeatedly in public, with the belief that if they themselves could overcome their differences, so could others. In Apeirogono, Colum McCann composes a multidimensional, heartbreaking and hopeful novel with the authentic and unpredictable friendship of two fathers as the centrepiece, crossing centuries and continents, drawing elements from nature, art, history and politics.
"Shalom - Salaam - Peace"
After October 7th, 2023, more and more Israelis are fighting even harder to keep the humanity of everyone in Israel and Palestine. Is their dual loyalty a threat or the greatest hope for this place?
The documentary covers the period from October 7th, 2023 (Hamas-led attack) to the end of February 2024 (imprisonment of 18-year-olds Tal Mitnik and Sophia Orr, the first Israeli conscientious objectors of the current war, and the ruling in South Africa v. Israel at the International Court of Justice), presenting the events in Israel and Palestine (both in Gaza and the West Bank), as well as the movement and oppression of anti-Zionist Israelis against the occupation, with the parallel narration of Sahar Vardi, a Israeli conscientious objector and anti-occupation activist in Jerusalem.
