Registration at the Youth Council of the Municipality of Kalamata

The registration period for participation in the Youth Council of the Municipality of Kalamata, the body of consultation and structured dialogue for our city's young people has been announced.

Who can participate?

If you are a young person aged 15 - 25 living, working or studying in the Municipality of Kalamata, you can register in the Register of New Citizens and become a member!

Through its operation, the Youth Council:

Enhances participatory decision-making processes.
Highlights the issues that directly and indirectly concern the youth.
Contributes to shaping a local youth agenda, giving voice to your ideas and proposals.
It offers opportunities for social activation and strengthening one's skills in education, culture, employment, the environment and many other areas.

What does the Youth Council offer you?

Free training in communication, conflict resolution, and environmental sustainability skills.
Training in Socialism: After each registration period, special training is held on the topic of Socialism and the way the Youth Council operates.
Ability to participate in decision-making processes and adopt proposed changes for the new people by the new people.
Youth card that promotes access to eco-friendly products and services, cultural events, and educational programs at a reduced cost.

How will it work?

The General Assembly is the highest body of the Youth Council. It will consist of all members registered on the New Citizens Register and will meet in public twice a year. During the meetings, proposals will be made for establishing thematic and/or local Working Groups, depending on the interests and needs of the youth. These groups will deal with issues such as education, culture, employment, the environment, and health, providing specific proposals and actions that will represent the voices of young people in the Municipality of Kalamata. The representatives of the Working Groups will form the Board of Directors, which will mainly have a coordinating role and will meet once a month.

The Youth Council of the Municipality of Kalamata follows the socialist method and is based on the principles of participatory governance and consensus. With sociocracy as a foundation, decision-making takes place circularly, giving all members an equal voice and role.
