It is said, that here was the sanctuary of Dionysus, (mentioned by Pausanias), close to the extant ancient Pelasgic acropolis, together with the legendary sanctuary of “Artemis Limnatis”.
Today, it is a stone built settlement, situated on a slope with dense vegetation, with a beautiful view of the Rintomo gorge. The visitor may see the towers of Mani and walk through the stone alleys. It is worth visiting the churches of Taxiarches and Panagia of Chelmos.
