Monastery Of Kalogreon/Nuns
The Convent of Kalograia/nuns, is situated among the foothills of the Castle in the narrow streets of the historical centre.
The monastery is quite famous for weaving silk in old looms, which is traditionally the most common occupation/engagement of the nuns and for this reason, they have been awarded many times in Greece and abroad.
The monastery was founded at the end of the 18th century, as it was plundered by Ibrahim, rebuilt and taken apart in 1834 by the decree of the Viceroy of Othonas, being occupied after a few years later by nuns.
The Catholicon of the monastery is located in a beautiful orchard with orange trees as around it,a veil of four wings with the monks ' cells are raised. There is also a hall where you can get some of the famous silk fabrics that the nuns weave.
