The School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Metropolis of Messenia was founded in 2008.
The school teaches classes in Byzantine church music, European music, folk song, traditional musical instruments (tambourine, oud, lute, santouri, etc.), popular musical instruments (bouzouki, guitar) and Makam (modal analysis). Also, the school operates a Byzantine music choir department (male and female), a traditional music choir, a children's and youth choir, as well as a music education workshop.
Finally, the School of Byzantine Music organises and participates in many cultural events, such as choral concerts, scientific days, seminars, lectures, workshops, etc.
