The Municipal Regional Theatre of Kalamata 

The Municipal Regional Theatre of Kalamata has been operating since 1982 with two stages, the Children's and the Central. DI.PE.THE.K. is subsidised by the Ministry of Culture, the Region of Peloponnese and the Municipality of Kalamata. Since 2009, it has been operating within the non-profit municipal enterprise "FARIS" framework.

Purpose of DI.PE.THE. Kalamatas is the combination of the entertaining, informative and educational character of the theatre, the promotion of the Greek theatrical tradition, the research and study of ancient drama, etc. Since September 2018, the artistic director of the Municipal Regional Theatre of Kalamata has been Yiannis Margaritis. He studied theatre at the Dramatic School of the National Theatre and has directed more than ninety theatre productions.

In addition to the theatrical performances, DI.PE.THE. Kalamatas also organises a series of events that aim to bring the art of theatre closer to young people and vulnerable groups in the city. Among them, the programme "A hug tours", which visits friendship and culture clubs and the hospital entertaining those who cannot go to the theatre, stands out. Finally, every Saturday morning, there is a theatre workshop aimed at young people aged 12-18 and adults, and it is taught by the director and artistic director, Yiannis Margaritis.
