The "Friends of People with Special Needs Association" of Messenia was founded in 2006, and since then, it has selflessly implemented actions to offer and support people with disabilities. The Association is a group effort of volunteers in Kalamata and the broader area of Messenia that is active in practice with the issue of disability.
The Association aims to assist people with disabilities, defend their rights, raise awareness in the local community, and create opportunities for their training, social integration and professional rehabilitation.
Since 2018, the association has been organising the "Sweet Days" Bazaar, where people can try and buy handmade sweet and savoury products, thus practically supporting the Association's efforts.
Also, for the last four years, the Messenia Association of Friends of People with Special Needs has been implementing the "Creative Activities of People with Special Needs afternoon Groups Programme" with great success with the aim of opening these people up to society. The Programme is coordinated and supported by a scientific-professional team, while the volunteers’ contribution, who support the groups with responsibility and love, is enormous.
