The National Resistance Monument (1941-1944)
The National Resistance Monument (1941-1944) is located in the small square between Artemidos and Nedontos streets, just 30 metres from the old City Hall historic building. The marble composition is the work of Kalamatian sculptor Christos Riganas and was erected in 1999.
An abstract marble figure of supernatural size sits on a large, square plinth, with the right hand raised to the sky and the left stretched horizontally in a clenched fist. Built-in marble reliefs depict various figures in an abstract way around the podium.
