Ancient Thouria Friends Society
The Ancient Thouria Friends Society was founded with the aim of assisting and promoting the work of excavations (which are carried out under the auspices of the Athens Archaeological Society), the restoration of the monuments of the ancient city, the assistance of historical and archaeological research, as well as the training of qualified personnel (for the excavation, restoration and maintenance of the ancient finds).
The Society also aims to promote information about the need to preserve ancient monuments (and, in general, the natural heritage and archaeological sites), the financing, organisation and management of activities and programmes for the preservation and rescue of ancient monuments, and cooperation with various bodies (state and non-state) to ensure the moral and financial support of ancient monuments.
The brilliant results of the archaeological investigations carried out in the area of Ancient Thouria, as well as the looming uniqueness of the ancient city, impose the task of highlighting the major archaeological site of the area, which will contribute not only to archaeological and historical research but also to the preservation of our country's cultural heritage.
