Panhellenic Open Sea Swimming Championship
The "Panhellenic Open Sea Swimming Championship" was organised for the first time in 2002, on the initiative of the president of the Nautical Club of Kalamata "Poseidon" (N.O.K.) Dimitris Kakalikas, as well as the following seven Panhellenic championships (2002-2009).
The Panhellenic Swimming Championship is also known as "open water" or "long-distance swimming" and is organised by the Hellenic Swimming Federation (K.O.E.). At this point, we should mention that open sea swimming is defined as athletic events that take place in rivers, lakes, oceans or canals and are as follows:
- 10 km men-women
- 5 km men-women
- 5 km team mixed men-women
- 10 km young men-young women
- 7.5 km of teenagers
- 5 km mixed team under 19 years
- 5 km for boys and girls
- 5 km mixed boys-girls team race
- 1.25-2.5-5 km veterans
