On the border of the prefecture of Achaia with the prefecture of Ilia, where the Helmos range rises, is Mount Erymanthos, with its highest peak, Olenos, which reaches 2,224 m. It is the fourth-highest mountain in the Peloponnese. Erymanthos is distinguished by its wild natural environment, coniferous forests, dense vegetation, excellent views, scattered springs, streams, and rivers, which form beautiful valleys and steep ravines, as well as impressive red and green schists.
