Filmhouse/New Kalamata Cinema Club-The Maltese Falcon

On Wednesday, November 8th (at 21:00), the movie The Maltese Falcon, directed by John Huston, will be screened at the Kalamata Labour Centre Amphitheatre.
After the murder of his partner and a man he was watching, private detective Sam Spade takes on a case involving three dangerous criminals, a femme fatale and a precious figurine, the Maltese Falcon. The Maltese Falcon is a remake of Roy Del Ruth’s film of the same title (1931). It is a classic film noir with a subversive plot, mystery and dark atmospheric style.
The film was nominated for three Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Sydney Greenstreet). In 1989, it was selected as part of the National Motion Picture Registry as culturally, historically and aesthetically significant by the Library of Congress. In 1998, the American Film Institute ranked it 23rd on its list of the 100 greatest films of all time.
