Municipality of West Mani
The Municipality of West Mani was established in 2010 with the "Kallicratis" Project from the amalgamation of the pre-existing municipalities of Avia and Lefktro, which were established in 1997 with the "Kapodistrias" Project.
The area of the new Municipality is 402.8 sq. km, and its population is estimated at approximately 7,200 inhabitants. The seat of the Municipality is Kardamyli. Previously, the Municipality was called Exo Mani, while the Municipality of Eastern Mani (Lakonia) was called Mesa Mani.
The Municipality of Western Mani is known for its numerous preserved monuments, fortified towers, Byzantine and Post-Byzantine temples, and the unique natural beauties of the wider area. The beaches with crystal clear waters are also famous, such as Kalogria, the beach of Stoupa, Foneas, etc.
