The village of Neochori is amphitheatrically built on a hill, between olive groves and oak trees, at an altitude of 200 metres. It is a Municipal District of the Municipality of Western Mani together with Lefktro and coastal Stoupa. Specifically, it is located 3 kilometres from the intersection of the Kalamata-Areopoli provincial road, at the height of Stoupa.
Neochori is one of the new settlements of Mani that was created at the end of the 17th century when the Venetian administration wanted to settle the area by transferring residents from the southern villages of the captaincy of Zygos to cover the population gap. It was settled mainly by residents of Nomitsis, who built houses from materials they took from the demolished city of Lefktro. Later, some residents from Milea also arrived.
In the village, visitors can see the traditional houses of Mani architecture, as well as the church of Evangelistria.
