The Municipal-Social Grocery of Kalamata is a social structure. It was established in 2008 as part of an effort by the Municipality to meet the primary survival needs of vulnerable citizens and to this day, serves hundreds of families.
Its operation is based on a voluntary contribution from an eleven-member team set up by the Municipal Council. Its primary funding source is the Municipality of Kalamata, while the Holy Diocese of Messenia and other institutions or individuals often support it.
