"Institute of Culture of Messenia"
The "Messenian Cultural Institute" aims to promote the history and culture of the place, as well as to highlight the natural wealth of the wider region. Through actions and collaborations with the municipalities and associations of Messenia, the Institute has presented an important project- a valuable legacy for the prefecture's residents.
In the framework of highlighting the new natural and cultural resources, the "Messenian Cultural Institute" carries out walking tours, such as the one in the area of the "Minagiotiko Natura 2000" path, as well as many other cultural activities. Among them, the student competition of poetry, photography and painting (in collaboration with the municipality of Pylos-Nestor) under the title: "The Trees of Freedom inspire us", where the contestants are invited to be inspired by the 19 monumental trees of the "Century-old" Trees Network of the Greek Revolution" located in the geographical area of the Municipality, stands out.
Finally, the "Messenian Cultural Institute", in collaboration with 21 historical municipalities of the Peloponnese and the undivided assistance of the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor, created the first "Park of the Greek Revolution" in Greece in the historical settlement of Kato Ampelokipi, through the mission of each municipality, a "Freedom Tree" from the flora of its area.
