The Hellenic Rescue Team—Messenia Branch started operating in April 2010 and is based in Kalamata.
The Hellenic Rescue Team (EOD) members have voluntarily participated in operations since 1978, while it has operated as a union since 1994. The Central Administration is based in Thessaloniki and has 34 branches and readiness bases throughout Greece. With a significant human resource of skilled volunteers throughout the country, it participates in Search and Rescue operations in emergencies and mass disasters in Greece and abroad.
