The "Kalamata Astronomy Group" (A.O.K.) operates in the prefecture of Messenia and is based in Kalamata. Its members are mainly amateur telescope-observing astronomers and friends of astronomy and natural sciences in general.
The association’s primary objective is the dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning astronomy and astrophysics, training in the handling of telescopes and the performance of astronomical observations and studies. Furthermore, the newly founded "Astronomy Club of Kalamata" aims to cooperate with scientific institutions and associations, as well as to hold lectures, events, seminars and activities.
