"Xenia"-Kalamata Sports and Social Dancing Association

The "Xenia" Sports and Social Dancing Association was founded in 1993 to preserve, develop and exploit the cultural heritage of our place, as well as the dissemination and cultivation of traditional dances and music.

Throughout its years of operation, the Association has been active, having participated in dance festivals in Russia, Basel, Switzerland, Budapest and Istanbul, as well as in cultural exchanges with dance groups from other regions of Greece (Paros, Santorini, Thessaloniki, Athens, Sparta, etc. a.)

In 2010, it participated in the ET3 show, "Sunday in the Village", which was filmed in the mountainous village of Poliani, Messenia, as well as in the last festive show of the same year in Benitses, Corfu, where 1,500 people from thirty regions of Greece participated. It is also worth mentioning that in 2018, the Association organised, with great success, the "Georgios Moutsoulas" 1st Festival of Traditional Dances, dedicated to the memory of one of the founders of the Association.

The Association operates traditional, European and Latin dance classes for teenage children and adults, while there is also a music-motor education class for preschoolers.

Finally, every year, the "Xenia" Association participates in various international dance festivals and sports dance competitions, as well as in exchanges with dance groups from other regions of our country.
