The “Leucippus” Dance Club, where traditional dances are taught to children and adults, is based in Stoupa.
Every year, it takes part in various cultural events. Moreover, in 2021, as part of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, it staged the theatrical performance: "In Kalamata 1821 March 23rd" (under the auspices of the Municipality of Western Mani).
In antiquity, Leucippus was a philosopher of the 5th BC. Century originally from Abdera or Miletus in Asia Minor, exponent of the atomic theory and teacher of the pre-Socratic philosopher Democritus. Leucippus was the first to hypothesise that matter is composed of atoms.
